When your remote starts to fail, it can be frustrating. Fortunately, there are some things you can do to fix it without replacing it entirely.
First, determine what type of remote you have. This will help you troubleshoot the problem more effectively.
1. Remove the batteries
A roku remote with no screws can be taken apart just as easily as one that does have screws. All you need is a flat-head screwdriver that’s a bit thicker than the battery casing and some plastic wedge tools to create a gap between the two halves of the remote. Then gently pry it open, taking care not to break the remote locks.
Before you begin, take a digital picture of the remote with the batteries in place. This will make it easier to put the remote back together when you’re done.
First, remove the battery compartment cover from the back of your roku remote by sliding it inwards. This should then reveal the batteries underneath.

2. Remove the battery compartment cover
A remote is one of the most common gadgets we use for streaming devices. It is small, portable and comes in many different designs. Sometimes it becomes necessary to open it up for repair or maintenance purposes. The process for removing the battery compartment cover from a roku remote no screws is relatively simple and doesn’t take more than a few minutes.
First of all, make sure to clean up any corrosion you may find on the surface of the remote. It can be easily done by spreading a bit of newspaper under the device. Alternatively, you can sprinkle some baking soda on it to clear stubborn spots of corrosion.

3. Remove the battery

Another common problem with remotes is that their buttons can become sticky over time. This can make it difficult to press buttons or can cause a remote to fail to recognize specific commands. If your remote’s buttons are sticky, you can try to remove them and force mash each button several times.
Depending on how much you need to open your remote, it may be worth investing in a plastic opening tool. This tool will allow you to pry the device apart more easily and safely. To do this, simply wedge the tool into the gap between the battery compartment cover and the remote to create a small hole. Once this has been created, simply twist the tool and your battery compartment cover should slide off easily.
4. Remove the circuit board
The circuit board in your roku remote is responsible for making sure that all of the buttons on the device work properly. But over time, these buttons can start to stick and stop working. This is a common problem that can lead to some frustrating situations, but it’s not impossible to fix.
To begin, you’ll need to remove the roku remote from the box. This is the hardest part of this process, but it’s also the most likely to make your remote work again.
You’ll need a plastic wedge tool to create the gap that you need to pry open. Once you have created the gap, place your finger between the two sides of the plastic and gently push the remote. You should be able to hear a click as the remote opens.
